Have you heard of the Jack Blank series by Matt Myklusch?  I’ve been a big fan of the series and featured Book One – The Accidental Hero and Book Two – The Secret War here on Larkin’s Book Bloggers.  We also had the pleasure of working with author Matt Myklusch as well!  So I was so excited to open my mailbox and see Book Three – The End of Infinity inside!

All his life, people have told Jack Blank what his future holds.  He hasn’t always liked what they’ve had to say, but at times he’s wondered if they were right.  As the Imagine Nation’s final battle with the Rustov draws near, Jack and his friends will each need their unique powers and abilities to help win the war.  But are they prepared to use those powers against the most terrifying and dangerous enemy of all – the one inside Jack?  The time has come for Jack to choose his path and discover for himself whether he will become the hero that the Imagine Nation – and the world – needs him to be, or the cause of its total destruction.

First of all, let me just say, that you need to be prepared to ignore everything else when you start reading this book!  The action starts right off in chapter one and never lets up.  It’s non-stop battles, adventure, deception, and suspense – I could not put it down!  In the beginning we find Jack where The Secret War left off – but lots of time has passed and Jack has no idea where he is, how he got there, or what has happened to him.  A whole chunk of his life is missing.  And then – Bang!  The first battle begins!  After returning to a hostile Imagine Nation, Jack slowly discovers what has happened to him – and we hear it through Khalix, the Rustov battling for control inside him.  But Jack is not ready to just give up.  Even though most of Imagine Nation is against him, he still has his true friends behind him – Jazen, Allegra, Stendeval, Trea, and the rest of the gang.  As Khalix battles against him from inside, Jack battles Magus, Jonas Smart, and his old friend Skerren – all in an effort to prove to everyone that he isn’t Revile – he isn’t who everyone thought he would become.

It’s so hard to write a series – and read a series – because you’re always comparing it to the original novel.  Will the sequel live up to the first one?  But with Matt’s books, they keep getting better and better – and this one if by far the best.  I love the characters – especially Allegra and Jazen who support Jack completely.  And Jonas Smart makes me want to scream!  And spit!  And kick – well, you get the picture!  It’s an orginal fantasy series that just keeps building and building.  Guys will love it as it is packed with battles and evil, parasitic robotic creatures!  And, as a girl, I loved it too!
