Ember McWilliams dies in a tragic car accident, but is brought back to life by her sister. But, one thing is different. If she touches anything that is living, it dies…instantly.
In Cursed, by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Ember McWilliams and her father are killed in a car accident. Ember’s gifted younger sister Olivia is unable to save their father, but brings Ember back to life. For two years Ember, her sister, and her mother – who doesn’t talk to or acknowledge Ember - struggle to live off of her father’s life insurance money while Ember is still on a “no touch” policy with anything that is living. But then Hayden Cromwell shows up and claims he can help her control her “gift”. But first she has to trust Hayden’s father, who collects other children with weird “gifts”. When Ember learns that the accident that changed her may have actually been intentional, Ember realizes that she better watch her back, because someone wants her dead, this time for real.
I absolutely loved Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down! I don’t think there was anything I disliked about the book. I loved how all the other children’s gifts played into the story. I also thought it was so admirable how Hayden always defended Ember and wasn’t scared of her gift, even though everyone else was. The close friendship between Ember and Hayden was also very sweet. I also really enjoyed how Ember hated to use her gift. Even when it was the right thing to do, she still felt bad about it and didn’t want to go around killing people. I highly recommend Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It is definitely one of my favorite books.
