I am thinking of an apple whe the streetcar hits and my leg severs and my ribs crumble and my arm is no longer an arm but something unrecognizable, wet and red.  – Eve and Adam

And girl created boy…

In the beginning, there was an apple—

And then there was a car crash, a horrible injury, and a hospital. But before Evening Spiker’s head clears a strange boy named Solo is rushing her to her mother’s research facility. There, under the best care available, Eve is left alone to heal.

Just when Eve thinks she will die—not from her injuries, but from boredom—her mother gives her a special project: Create the perfect boy.

Using an amazingly detailed simulation, Eve starts building a boy from the ground up. Eve is creating Adam. And he will be just perfect… won’t he?

Ahhh…I love Michael Grant.  His Gone series got me so hooked – if you haven’t read it and you like fantasy/science fiction – you have to go pick it up.  And then I heard he was coming out with this new novel, Eve and Adam, and that he had co-authored it with his wife, Katherine Applegate.  I could not wait to get my hands on this and was psyched to meet them both in person at BEA last June and pick up the ARC.  And let me tell you, this book was not at all what I thought it would be – it was so much more!

Evening, or Eve as she likes to be called, is involved in a critical accident and is rushed to the hospital.  However, a man named Solo appears and whisks her off to Spiker Biopharmaceuticals – her mother’s billion dollar corporation.  There she makes an amazing recovery – and we learn more about her relationship with her mother, Terra Spiker, and the mysterious Solo.  Meanwhile, things are complicated by Eve’s irresponsible friend Aislan and her good-for-nothing boyfriend Maddox.  If that isn’t enough, Solo is on a mission to open Eve’s eyes as to what really goes on behind the scenes at Spiker Biopharmaceuticals – and her mother’s involvement.  Her speedy recovery, the Logan Serum, “mods” – and the Adam project…what do they all have in common?  Who is Solo, really?  And will Eve figure it all out?  You MUST read this book to find out!  Fast-paced – especially towards the end – you won’t be able to put it down.

I added it to my TBR list initially because the cover looked awesome but seems like the story pretty kick-ass too!
